Lonoke Community Development VISTA

The University of Central Arkansas has been named a host site for the AmeriCorps VISTA program and the Center for Community and Economic Development will be placing an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Lonoke, AR. The AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program places individuals in needed areas around the United States to address poverty and increase economic opportunity for the country. AmeriCorps VISTA assignments last for one year with the opportunity for extension and individuals paid a living stipend during the assignment and an educational stipend if the individual completes the program. This program will allow these communities to increase their capacity in their work towards building community and fostering economic growth.

The Lonoke Community Development VISTA will work with Mayor Trae Reed to move forward their strategic plan called Lonoke 2022. Lonoke 2022 is Lonoke’s strategic plan created in 2017 to address the priority areas of beautification and recreation, branding and marketing, downtown and retail development, housing and real estate, infrastructure, and jobs and education. The Community Development VISTA will be working on their one-year assignment to advance these goals for the community of Lonoke.

We have re-opened the Lonoke Community Development VISTA position and will be accepting applications for this position until the end of this week (7/3/2020) so please encourage interested individuals to apply as soon as possible.

You can find the application for the Lonoke Community Development VISTA here.
